The following dates and deadlines apply for funding in the winter semester 2026/27. The application period depends on which applicant group you belong to.

The Deutschlandstipendium is aimed at all (prospective) students at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) within the standard period of study who:
Another prerequisite is that you are enrolled at RUB and re-registered by October, 1. However, you can already apply for the Deutschlandstipendium if you are still waiting for admission to RUB.

You can submit your application for the Deutschlandstipendium at Ruhr University Bochum via an online form, which you can access here during the application period.
Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) awards the scholarship “Deutschlandstipendium” once a year. The collection and processing of personal data of the applicants is necessary for the application for the Deutschlandstipendium. The data protection declaration is a supplement to the general information on data processing at RUB, which must also be observed. In the following, we inform you about the type, scope and purpose of the processing of personal data in connection with the selection procedure and the awarding of the Deutschlandstipendium at RUB.
Two notes: (1) There is no legal entitlement to funding through the Deutschlandstipendium at RUB. (2) Your application can only be considered if your application reaches us within the respective application deadline that applies to you. Applications that are not submitted by the deadline or are not in the correct form will not be considered in the selection process. You are not entitled to be notified of an incomplete application or an application not submitted by the deadline.
1. Purpose and Legal Basis of the Data Processing
The purpose of the processing is the implementation of the application and selection procedure, the awarding, as well as the administration of the Deutschlandstipendium on the basis of the currently valid version of the "Gesetzes zur Schaffung eines nationalen Stipendienprogramms (StipG)" and the "Verordnung zur Durchführung des Stipendienprogramm-Gesetzes (StipV)". Thus, the processing is carried out for the fulfillment of a public task pursuant to Art 6 (1) e DSGVO.
2. Scope of the Processing of Personal Data
In connection with the application and selection procedure within the framework of the Deutschlandstipendium at RUB, we collect and process the following personal data:

3. Contact information: Address, e-mail address, telephone number
4. Date of birth, place of birth and nationality
5. Study details: degree program, transcript of records, overview of academic achievements, matriculation number, university semester, subject semester, certificate of higher education entrance qualification, certificate of enrolment, Bachelor's degree certificate (only for applicants currently enrolled in a Master's degree program)
6. Study grants: Funding Deutschlandstipendium, other scholarships, scholarship provider.

9. Curriculum vitae in tabular form: university or school education, work experience or internships, community or social commitment
10. If applicable, a credible statement of special personal or family circumstances such as illnesses and disabilities, caring for own children or close relatives in need of care, family origin, migration background or experiences of displacement (Refugees).
Your data will be stored in our RUB system. Your data will not be stored together with other personal data of the persons concerned.
3. Recipients of your Data
Your data will be processed as part of the selection procedure by RUB and the faculties involved in the application process, the Rectorate and the central administration of RUB. Your application will only be used by RUB and will be treated confidentially.
If you have been selected as a Deutschlandstipendium scholarship holder, your sponsor will probably want to meet you personally. For the purpose of contacting you, we will transmit your contact data (surname, first name, address, email address and telephone number) to the sponsor. With your application for a Deutschlandstipendium, you agree to your contact details being passed on to the sponsor if you receive a scholarship.
According to the Scholarship Program Act (StipG), RUB is obliged to send anonymized data on each scholarship holder of the Deutschlandstipendium to the Statistical Office of North Rhine-Westphalia and to the Federal Statistical Office. This is done under a pseudonym and thus without disclosing your name.
The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) would like to avoid double funding of scholarship holders of the Deutschlandstipendium and may therefore carry out random checks. For this purpose, the BMFTR may collect data (surname, first name, date of birth, address and university location) from you. The BMFTR may store this data and compare it with the data of other domestic and foreign funding institutions. After the sample has been carried out, the BMFTR must delete the data.
No further data will be passed on to third parties.
4. Duration of Processing
The data stored in connection with the Deutschlandstipendium will generally be deleted after five years, provided that the sponsorship has ended and there are no further legal obligations to retain the data. If the data is relevant for accounting purposes, it will be deleted after fifteen years.
If your application for a Deutschlandstipendium has not been successful or if you are on the reserve list, your data will be deleted after the end of a funding period.
5. Obligation to Provide Personal Data within the Framework of the Deutschlandstipendium
In order to apply for a Deutschlandstipendium, it is necessary, in accordance with § 10 StipG, that you provide us with the personal data mentioned above. Funding is not possible without this information.
6. Data Subject Rights
You have the right to obtain information about your personal data, as well as the right to correct the data. In justified cases, you have the right to object to the processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you are of the opinion that the processing and disclosure of personal data concerning you violates the GDPR. For the application, you need to enclose your transcript of records. This transcript lists your previous performance and study records. You can print out the transcript yourself via eCampus under “Übersicht über Leistungsnachweise”/"Overview of transcripts of records".
Alternatively, please contact the relevant examination office, which can issue a transcript of records for you.
Enter your grade point average, calculated according to the usual rules of your degree program (weighted, unweighted, etc.).
