Rethinking Outdoor Areas on Campus

Where on campus is there great potential or an urgent need for action when it comes to outdoor spaces? The Sustainability Office is asking all students to answer this question in order to improve the quality of their stay.

The results will be incorporated into a project to specifically improve the quality of outdoor spaces at our university.

There are many beautiful corners on the RUB campus, but also some that could be nicer and where there is an urgent need for action.

In order to create and implement needs-oriented concepts, input from students is now required:

  • Where on campus do I feel comfortable or uncomfortable and why?
  • Where is the quality of stay particularly important to me?
  • What constitutes quality of stay for me?
  • What would make the campus more attractive for me?

Answers to these and similar questions are just as important as specific ideas on the topic of “Improving the quality of outdoor spaces”.

About the Project

A central component of the Sustainable RUB 2030 sustainability strategy is the qualitative improvement of outdoor areas with a focus on quality of stay and climate impact adaptation.

The aim is to create places where students, staff and guests enjoy spending time – even in the face of increasing climatic challenges.
