German course

If you do not have any proof of a required language examination yet, you can apply online for the German courses in the German as a Foreign Language department.

You can attend courses at levels A1, A2, B1, B2 or C1. The courses last three months and several course periods are offered per year. The language courses are subject to a fee. For the time of the German course participation you may additionally be enrolled at Ruhr-Universität Bochum (additional approx. €330 social contribution per semester).

Further information on the language courses can be obtained directly from the German as a Foreign Language department.

Admission and visa

You can apply for a visa at the German Embassy with the admission that you receive from the German as a Foreign Language department. It is not, however, an admission to studies, but initially only for the language course. Once you have successfully completed the language courses, you can apply for the studies.

If you need to apply for a visa, please note that at least three months should elapse between the application and submission of the application documents and the start of the course.
