BAföG

Half of the benefits students can receive under the Federal Training Assistance Act - BAföG for short - are a grant, half is an interest-free government loan which has to be repaid after the end of the studies. Unfortunately, international students without a refugee status are not usually eligible for it.

The awarding of BAföG to international students is done according to §§8 and 61 BAföG and is very complex.

If you would like to find out more about the requirements, kindly contact our student financial advisory service, the AStA or the AKAFÖ.
