Botanic Garden & Chinese Garden

A path behind the Mensa leads down to the Botanic Garden. Its highlight is the Chinese garden: an enchanted place that makes you forget that the pulsating campus is merely a stone’s throw away.

Students from all departments of Ruhr University Bochum grow potatoes, blueberries and mint in the student garden.

Favorite Places at RUB

  • Meadow in front of the G-buildings: The meadow between the G-buildings and Q-West is a great place to relax and enjoy the sun. Whether you want to chat with fellow students, have a picnic or simply chill out – this place is ideal for taking an outdoor break from everyday university life.
  • Small platform in front of the Student Service Center (SSC): The terraced rows of seats in front of the SSC are a popular meeting spot for students on the RUB campus. Whether between two lectures, after an appointment at the SSC or before taking the U35 home – this is where you can meet to chat or simply take a break.
  • Mensa terrace: The Mensa terrace offers a wide view of the green surroundings of RUB and the Lottental valley. Here you can enjoy an idyllic view and find an ideal place to eat, relax and leave everyday university life literally “behind yourself” for a moment.

Students and employees who feel the need for quiet retreat, relaxation and slowing down in everyday university life can find this in the Room of Silence opposite the “Rote Bete” in the Mensa building on the N buildings side.
