Deutschlandstipendium: Information for students
Do you have an excellent academic record and do you actively contribute to your community? Would you like to receive a scholarship of 300 euros per month for one year? If so – submit your application! As a student at Ruhr-Universität, you have the chance to apply for the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship once a year.

Within the framework of this scholarship programme, the German government supports private donors to fund scholarships for young talents with outstanding academic or school records who show exceptional commitment to their community or social issues. Social, family and personal circumstances are also taken into account in the selection process. For example, we are also interested in whether you are the first in your family to pursue an academic degree or if you have a refugee background.
How does the Deutschlandstipendium work?
Scholarship holders receive 300 euros per month for the duration of one year (from October through September). The amount comes from two sources: 150 euros are financed by a private donor, and the other 150 euros from the German government. A scholarship holder thus receives a total of 3,600 euros per year.
A Deutschlandstipendium will enable you to focus more fully on your degree programme at RUB. At the same time, you can still continue working on social or community projects. And last but not least, you will have the opportunity to establish valuable contacts with companies, foundations and private donors, or simply make friends with other Deutschlandstipendium holders.
Scholarship period
A Deutschlandstipendium is awarded for a period of one year or two semesters, and always begins in the winter semester. The application process for the winter semester 2024/2025 begins from spring 2024. For detailed information regarding application deadlines please check here.
Further Information
As a rule, the Deutschlandstipendium is paid out regardless of income and Bafög. However, for the most part it may not be possible to simultaneously receive another scholarship (§ 4 StipG).
