Facilities in the SSC

First Point of Contact in the SSC: Reception in the Entrance Area

The first point of contact for all visitors to the SSC is the Reception desk in the entrance area. The contact persons provide initial information and, if necessary, refer you to the relevant service and advisory facilities in the building. Employees of RUB also receive technical support at the Reception.

The SSC is directly connected to the University Administration (Universitätsverwaltung, UV), where you find the Campus Service Infopoint that also offers orientation and support to everyone on campus.

Information on Accessibility

The Student Service Center (SSC) is accessible at ground level without barriers via level 0 (campus) or level 01 (on I-Nordstraße). There is also a ground-level connecting corridor from the University Administration building (Universitätsverwaltung, UV) on level 0. An elevator in the entrance area provides access to all floors.

There is a tactile guidance system both directly in front of and inside the building (outside: in-relief, inside: milled into the floor). Disability-friendly toilets can be found on all levels of the building in room 210 directly opposite the elevator. The so-called Euro Key provides access. The doors to the corridors on each floor are usually open or have automatic door openers.

During the opening hours of the Reception SSC in the entrance area on level 0, you are welcome to contact the staff if you need assistance.

How to get to Ruhr University Bochum

By Public Transport

From the U35 underground station named “Ruhr-Universität”, first cross the pedestrian bridge to the right in the direction of the university. The SSC is located on the left-hand side behind the bridge, recognizable from afar by the “SSC” sign on the front. You enter the SSC directly to the left of the university administration building (Universitätsverwaltung, UV), which is also connected to the SSC by a glazed corridor.

By Car

Coming from Universitätsstraße, take the exit “Uni Mitte”. Keep left when approaching the parking garage and turn left after the information point. A designated disabled parking space is located under the canopy next to the bus stops before the entrance to the visitor parking lot on the left-hand side. Further parking facilities for wheelchair users on campus are shown on the campus map for wheelchair users.

From the parking lot, take the stairs to the pedestrian bridge over Universitätsstraße.

Alternatively, you can cross the sheltered bus stop from the parking lot in the direction of the campus or south. From there use the yellow elevator to reach the entrance area on level 0 of the campus (barrier-free).

The Student Service Center (SSC) is the first building on the left after the bridge in the direction of the university and is located slightly behind the University Administration (Universitätsverwaltung, UV).
