Application, Admission, Enrolment

Advanced Semesters

You already have qualifications to enter an advanced semester in your chosen degree programme? Let the respective faculty of Ruhr-Universität Bochum classify you in an advanced semester. However, if your chosen degree programme is also restricted in advanced semesters, you have to apply additionally at the Admissions Office.

Important note - Classification ≠ Recognition

Please contact the examination office of your elective course of study at an early stage for an accurate counselling and keep in mind:

The recognition of previous credits/qualifications and the classification/placement in an advanced semester are two different processes.

Non-restricted study programes in advanced semesters

In degree programmes that are not-restricted in advanced subject semesters, you need a written classification certificate from the subject advisory service/examination office of the relevant degree programme at RUB.

If you have a classification certificate and a school leaving certificate from Germany (Abitur), you can enrol in Bochum without prior application or registration for the respective deadlines and will definitely receive a place at the university.
