Have you already completed a degree abroad, do not have German citizenship and would like to study a Master's degree at Ruhr-Universität Bochum? Then you can submit an easy and paperless online application to us.
Please note that as an international applicant you must apply for all degree programs (restricted and open admission).
Online applications are only possible during limited periods:
- For the winter semester from the beginning of June to July 15
- For the summer semester from the beginning of December to January 15

Documents for the application
You can only submit your application once you have uploaded all the requested uploads in full and only then can your application be processed further.
As a rule, you must upload the following documents as part of your application:
- Copy of passport
- For bilingual and German-language degree programs: Proof that you have passed the German language test as a scan of the original
Accepted language certificates are listed here. - School report as a scan of the original and an officially certified translation (German or English)
- Universitydegree certificate + transcript of records or list of subjects and grades as a scan of the original and a certified translation (German or English)
- If applicable, proof of passing the university entrance examination (e.g. from Turkey, Lebanon, Iran, etc.) as a scan of the original and in an officially certified translation (German or English)
- Possibly assessment test as a scan of the original
- APS certificate (only for applicants with certificates from China, Vietnam or India)

If you are offered a study place, you still have two deadlines to meet, which you will find in your letter of admission:
- you must accept the study place itself within a certain period
- you will be given a further deadline for your enrollment or transfer
Enrolment or transfer is only possible within the deadline stated in your letter of admission.
After admission, you must have a mandatory consultation with the student advisory service for almost every Master's degree program. Please refer to the information in your letter of admission. You must upload proof of the interview during online enrolment or it will be confirmed digitally by the faculty.
