If you would like to enrol in an advanced semester, you can submit your application online via the RUB application portal. You do not need to be classified by the faculty in advance. The faculty will evaluate your application as part of the procedure via the RUB application portal. However, we still recommend that you contact the relevant academic advisor and seek advice on enrolling in an advanced semester.

Then please submit an application for enrollment for the first semester via the RUB application portal. Once you have been enrolled, please contact the relevant faculty and request placement in an advanced semester. The faculty will then inform the Registrar's Office of your transfer to the respective advanced semester.
Then, to enrol in an advanced semester for the winter semester, submit your application for enrollment in the first semester via the RUB application portal. Once you have been enrolled, please contact the relevant faculty and request classification into an advanced semester. The faculty will then inform the Registrar's Office of your classification to the respective advanced semester.
If you would like to enrol for the summer semester, submit an application for enrollment in an advanced semester. In this case, you do not need to ask the faculty separately for classification.

Some degree programs are no longer restricted in terms of admission after a certain semester (see the relevant note in the upper boxes listing the subjects/degree programs). In this case, complete the online application by the end of the corresponding application deadline for advanced semesters (September 15 for the winter semester / March 15 for the summer semester) and upload all required documents. The faculty will then carry out the classification. If the faculty classifies you in a restricted semester, you will be included in the possible allocation procedure in the corresponding semester, as long as all required documents have been uploaded. If the faculty classifies you in a non-restricted semester, you can apply for enrollment directly via the RUB application portal.
Please note the following information regarding the application process for advanced semesters.
The application period for advanced semesters starts at the beginning of December for a summer semester and at the beginning of August for a winter semester. The online application is unlocked until 15 March (for a summer semester) / 15 September (for a winter semester). During this application period, you must not only have applied, but also uploaded all necessary documents. If you have not uploaded any or uploaded not sufficient documents in the RUB application portal by the end of the application period, unfortunately your application cannot be accepted.
Please upload them to the RUB application portal so that your application can be taken into consideration if an allocation procedure should be carried out in your selected degree program.

Information for students changing university/interrupting their studies
Applicants who wish to apply for the admission to a degree program in advanced semester must prove that they are definitively enrolled at a higher education institution within the EU for the chosen degree program at the time of application or that they were definitively enrolled before this time.
If you are already studying or have studied medicine (state examination) or law (state examination) at a German university, you do not need to upload any transcripts or module handbooks, but only your current certificate of enrollment or last certificate of exmatriculation.
You will be informed about your current application status and the admission or rejection letters via the RUB application portal. The decisions are published by the end of May for the summer semester and by the end of November for the winter semester. If you have received a letter of admission and would like to accept the place, please also complete the online enrolment via the RUB application portal. You will find all further information in the letter of admission.
